Course Objectives The main purpose of this course is to give general information about basic philosophy and sociology concepts and movements and to create a perspective on how these concepts and movements are reflected in legal theory and practice.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will be able to explain the parallelism between law and philosophy, and therefore law and justice.
  • Will be able to make comparisons between the relationships between different disciplines and law
  • Will be able to use legal interpretation and methods in different areas of law
  • Will be able to look at law externally and holistically, from the perspective of legal philosophy and sociology
  • Will be able to use the data obtained from a critical perspective on the current law to reach the law that should be
  • Will be able to reveal the social nature of law and the direct link between society and law through the sociology of law.
Course Description In this course, concepts such as right, law, justice and equality are examined in the context of natural law, legal positivism and legal realism theories, and problems such as the sociological origin, effectiveness, function and historical evolution of law are discussed.
